Catenary Inspection - Product PortfolioMeasuring as the basis for the maintenance strategyPower collection via the Overhead Line (OHL) and pantograph, introduced nearly 100 years ago early in the history of electric railways, remains basically unchanged in the physical apperance. However, technological developments during the past century have done much to greatly increase the current capacity, speed and safety. Today, there are several hundred thousand kilometeres of electrified lines in the world, an huge and precious asset able to bring power to electric motors, lights, air conditioning as well as able to move last generation high-speed trains. As a very long linear structure, the overhead line is subject to sliding stress due to pantograph interaction and natural phenomena (rain, wind, snow, ice,…). Consequently, it’s a potential source of hazardous accidents (e.g. broken wires) that are very expensive to fix as they require time for repair. Preventive maintenance is a mandatory task that relies on the ability to perform accurate and extensive diagnosis of the equipment condition using cutting-edge technology for condition monitoring.
