August 7, 2020 - Providing the required baseline data for rebuilding the track-train interaction optimization strategy for the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB).
This is the challenging objective behind the MERMEC & HBM wheel force and wheel form installation on the Vienna - St Pölten high-speed line.
Mermec, in partnership with HBM, has designed and deployed the world’s first integrated system to measure wheel profiles and running behaviour (stability) at 250km/h with very high accuracy.
ÖBB is now gaining additional insight from the correlation between profile shape and running behaviour through which to optimise the vital wheel-rail interface, improve safety, reduce maintenance costs.
