iCAB - Intermittent Cab Signalling System

MERMEC Group iCAB signalling solution is a train control system based on intermittent track-to-train communication using balises and optional advanced data infill.

The current destination data is transmitted to the train by Eurobalise. Dynamic computation of the speed profile up to the next transmission point is executed by onboard sub-system allowing continuous monitoring and preventing any overrun of the Movement Autority.

In those applications where demand for higher traffic fluidity is required, data infill devices using different technologies for the data transmission can be utilised to more regularly update the transmission of information from the track.

The iCAB signalling solution is made of two sub-systems, the Onboard Sub-System (OSS) and the Wayside Sub-System (WSS).

All iCAB components are equipped with external diagnostic modules that allow for real time notification of failures for prompt maintenance interventions.
